Q: If the camera is POE, why there is a power port on it?

Blaken88 I think that it powers the system and then it uses that to power the POE.

This system has exceeded my expectation. In fact I was skeptical about it in the beginning. One of the power adaptors broke early on, but I was able to buy another one on ebay pretty cheap. I didn’t bother the seller about it (because I wanted quick delivery). The system seems to run better when you install a hard drive (not included). The NRV program to view the live feed on your monitor is a bit clunky but it is manageable. The remote viewing on your phone is pretty good. You are able to live view and view the recording of what has happened at your property on your phone as well. There has been many times I have been able to view what is happening at my house or see if parcel have been delivered. I was able to work out how my gate was opened as well (wind). I haven’t mastered the alarm setting on the NRV yet. I turned off the “push” setting on my phone as I was getting a stack of alarm notification on my phone. You are able to select the area which you want to monitor and the level of sensitivity that the alarms will trigger. The inferred lights work pretty well. All the camera are powered by their own power adaptor. You are meant to able to do “Power over ethernet” which I haven’t tried. I have more expensive big name NRV at work and this system has most of the features found in the big name NRV. I have had the system for about 6 months and it hasn’t missed a beat. I would recommend this to someone looking for a cheap system. Sorry, I’d like to write more but my wife is telling me to get off the computer…… sorry!
