Se il congelatore ha 280 watt continui di consumo, non c'è nessun problema. Il motore a compressione con termostato, ogni volta che si mette in moto, consuma una potenza energetica enorme. Le batterie, per un 280 watt, in genere, vanno bene con una capacità di 280 watt riempite almeno al 90%, cioè quasi pienamente cariche. 12 volts quindi al litio LiFePO4 con batterie da 25-30 ah ci si sta dentro ( 30 ah x 12,8 = 384 watt 25 ah = 320 watt ). Con le batterie al piombo, da auto, bisogna stare almeno sui 60 ah. Questo per poco più di un'ora di funzionamento. Se il congelatore consuma 150 watt all'ora, con termostato, ci vogliono ogni giorno 150 x 24 = 3,6 kw. In questo caso ci vogliono almeno 300 ah a 12 volts di batterie al LiFePO4, ben cariche. Oppure 200 ah, se i pannelli solari riescono a caricare più dell'energia che consuma ( cioè almeno pannelli solari da 400 ah ) in modo che dopo il tramonto si abbiano watt sufficienti per tirare fino al nuovo giorno con il nuovo sole che ricarica le batterie.
