Gerard Vaughan On the newer series, the fourth band is the decade multiplier. The value has 3 sigm figs. Where before there was only 2. Black is no multiple X1. Brown X10. Red x100, orange x1000 etc. The problem for me arises with guessing which end to start, with the later system, when the 1st and last bands are the same colour, mainly brown. The last bands is the accuracy rating, silver, or gold on the old system, and a %error colour value on the new series. The newer series has extra values in, such as 2, 2.1?, 6.2..... that never existed in the old series.

Gerard Vaughan You could connect 5 x 20 amp batteries in parallel. Your problem then would be to find or make the electronic driver box that everyone here seems to have forgotten about !!
