Given that this is a fairly expensive piece of equipment some documentation and a cover to protect the exposed electronics should have been included. Now the good news: With careful focusing (I use a headband magnifier from Banggood, laser goggles and power at 1%) I can get cuts about 0.2mm wide in wood !! When unfocused the beam becomes rectangular. This is my first laser and I bought it to do wood engraving on my 2mx3m homemade cnc. It seems perfect for this application. I have not tried cutting but it slices through paper at 30% power like butter. Note that the laser is at full power when first plugged in so PWM is important to have. It was delivered in under 2 weeks to Canada and I'm very happy with purchase - Thanks Banggood ! :-)

  • popadrian23 Hello, how did you connect your laser to cnc? Can you post another images so I can see please?

  • JonDun @popadrian23 I used a small piece of aluminum channel to hold the laser module and a piece of flat aluminum bolted to the channel to hold the electronics. The flat aluminum piece can be seen in the last picture between the module and electronics. I've been using the laser for a year now and remain VERY impressed with it. Good luck :-)

  • BG349939183 this is a very helpful review Jon, thank you! so putting the power down to 1% helps with focusing, does the power need to stay low to achieve such fine engraving then? ive seen some lasers that are reported to not get below 1mm but I'm looking for one that can
    thanks

  • JonDun @BG349939183 Hello: BG349939183
The 1st photo shows that this laser can engrave lines well below 1mm at 50% power on wood. The line width will depend on power, speed and density/moisture level but by adjusting these factors I have been able to achieve finely detailed engravings @ 60-80% power settings and have had very good results on copper using an etchant. Key of course is careful focusing: Above 1% power i find there is just too much glare to focus well. I also initially focus on a black razor blade held on the object as it gives a more consistent surface than say wood. For my applications this laser has worked VERY well ! Best of luck :-)
