JDeGreat In telecommunications, Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System or CTCSS is one type of in-band signaling that is used to reduce the annoyance of listening to other users on a shared two-way radio communications channel. ... The CTCSS feature also does not offer any security. You may have spelling error as there is no DSS but there is DCS which is Digital Coded system. Digital subtone (DCS) has 104 subtones. Compared to CTCSS toneS, the code speed is faster, the bit error rate is lower, and much users in the same channel. It sends a number repeatedly encoded in digital as you speak, in the low frequencies so you do not hear it. ... DCS is newer than CTCSS, and has more codes.
