Q: Does this item have a built in burden resistor?

Asked by zamlaurie on 2021-12-28 10:26:32

thebreadboard Pretty sure it does not, the case specifies 50mA output for 100A input. If you need a voltage out then you can either order one specifically with voltage out or simply add a suitable burden resistor

Q: How is this for an Ender 3 when it's listed as 12v ?

Asked by ragpuss1961 on 2020-02-09 04:40:03

zamlaurie The way I understand stepper motors is that they are current driven devices. The stepper driver will adapt the voltage to drive the current that is requested. Most steppers only run at very low voltages, The 12v is pretty much irrelevant. I'm sure it will work with ender.

zamlaurie The PEI sheet soon starts to delaminate off of the spring steel. If you have parts that stick well, this also happens. However, I just use the plate upside down with glue stick and this works perfectly for me

zamlaurie I since found that this is not strong enough to use with a 3-1 gear ratio extruder like the BMG extruder on the Ender 3. It looks and sounds like its working, but I get unusual banding issues. With a stock motor instead these go away.
