Bertel I don't think it's a protective plastic. If it is, it would indeed be very hard to come off. It lacks the usual peel-off tab. I tried carefully with an Exacto knife in one corner, no luck. I'd keep it on.

Bertel Unless you get an (expensive) meter with a dedicated MV range (which this doesn't have) 0.001V will be the best you can expect.

Q: Is the display backlit?

Bertel According to the specs, it is backlit. Even has a flashlight. Mine is on the way, when it arrives, I can tell you for sure.
