Quite a narrow beam and fine for close up work, don't expect to light up whole areas. For the money it's fine. The two downsides are 1 - no o-ring seal so wouldn't be fully water proof, probably fine for light showers. 2 - The first click is full white beam, then dim followed by red and flashing red. So if you wanted not to illuminate everything right off have a hand ready in font.
