It is a quarter turn tap, but not entirely metal, the lever handle is plastic and non serviceable but for the price it's ok. One other peculiar thing is, the direction is backwards, the normal on position is handle pointing to the front, and off, to the side, as per all fifty billion lever taps made over the last 200 years, but these are on when the lever is sideways, and off when pointing to the front. This one was just a test sample, so I was lucky, although at least the finish is ok, chrome is good and it doesn't drip.
