When the unit came I unboxed it to find a neat and well painted unit which is fascinating in so much that it uses a magnet on the actual piston to attract the displacer! The unit has a narrow working speed range which is quite fast and it’s impressive to watch as the displacer is attracted up towards the piston but never actually catches it up enough to cause the friction related to other Stirling engine designs. In short you can’t simplify the design anymore.
