This is a great edition, it includes all popular mods and upgrades. M4 hall effect gimbals are installed, RP-SMA female detachable antenna port (proper RP-SMA, you can change included antenna with good quality high gain WiFi antennas), upgraded switches, which now have more soft feel. Original Taranis switches were quite clicky, on this edition they are softer. Also you get good quality carrying case and stick protectors. I got mine with carbon artwork, it looks great and the paint is actually high quality. Battery is the same as typical Taranis, you might want to change it with LiFe or similar. Battery charger comes with US plug.
There are plenty of improvements on this one, most notably is of course the m9 hall sensor gimbals and i gotta tell you they feel awesome they are incredibly smooth with more resistance, and more resolution over the original x9. Included with this transmitter is a nice EVA case, the outside is hard – and wrapped in vinyl, the interior is filled with foam inserts with holes cut out for an x9d+ you can tell it’s for the original x9 because the cut out for the antenna doesn’t line up with the special edition x9. the graphics on the shell has a really nice matte finish to it. similar to the older model, the front has more of a smooth surface--- while the rear has a bit of a textured feel instead of the one piece antenna, the se comes with a detatchable 3bdi dipole. first off, the adapter is very flimsy, probably the worst part of the entire radio. the rpsma connector was crooked and had a lot of play you could actually move the sma connector around with out much effort.. i was however able to mess around with it a bit and get the adapter and the connector to sit straight.. lastly, i would have preferred use of a thicker coax cable, something like an rg316 would be preferable as the thicker cable will reduce signal attenuation. okay to sum everything up, i think this new edition of the x9d is a big winner. youre getting a lot of high quality gizmos, better switches, better gimbals, even some sweet thumbstick ends. and that’s not even the end of it, theres even more. if youre torn between the special edition, or the non se, id say go for the se and save yourself some future regret
