Light seems okay. Seems to be running at some frequency, as you can see in the iPhone photo. I use them in the bathroom, so I think it's okay. I would not use them as reading lights.

While this is a good, energy saving replacement for a typical 40w incandescent bulb, the ventilation holes and slits in the plastic make very odd stripes on the walls or ceiling of whatever room you use it in. I have not tried it in a frosted fixture yet, so I don't know if the stripes would still show on a frosted globe, but that might be the only way to use this one. I had originally thought it would work in the hanging fixture in my hallway, but the stripes on the walls clash with my decor.
