The DeepSpace TALOS 5.8GHz 3W VTX is a high-output analogue video transmitter developed for larger freestyle, cinematic and long range FPV aircraft. Its adjustable output reaches a maximum rated power of 3000mW, providing substantial transmission capability when used with suitable receiving equipment and antennas.

Unlike many conventional VTX units, the TALOS combines a substantial aluminium heatsink housing with an integrated cooling fan. 

This actively cooled construction helps control the considerable heat generated when operating at higher output levels.

Active fan cooling
A 3W video transmitter produces a significant amount of heat. DeepSpace equips the TALOS with an integrated cooling fan and a finned aluminium housing to help transfer heat away from the transmitter electronics.

The fan improves heat management but does not remove the need for sensible installation. Position the unit where its fan openings and heatsink fins remain unobstructed, and avoid enclosing it tightly inside foam or heat-retaining material.

Extended stationary operation at maximum power should be avoided. The VTX will receive considerably more cooling once the aircraft is moving through the air.

Physical frequency and power controls
Separate FREQ and PWR buttons allow the frequency and output power to be configured directly on the VTX. Status LEDs provide a visual indication when configuring the transmitter.

IRC Tramp control
The DATA connection supports the IRC Tramp control protocol. When connected to a suitable flight-controller UART, the VTX channel, band and output level can be managed through Betaflight OSD.

The selected UART must be configured for IRC Tramp under the Peripherals section of the Betaflight Ports tab. A compatible VTX table may also be required for all available settings to appear correctly.

Important installation information
- Always connect a correctly matched 5.8GHz antenna before powering the transmitter.
- Never operate the VTX without an antenna connected, as reflected RF energy may damage the output stage.
- Keep the cooling-fan opening and heatsink fins unobstructed.
- Do not leave the VTX powered at maximum output on the bench for extended periods.
- Check polarity carefully before connecting the 7–35V power input.
- Do not connect battery voltage to the video, data or regulated 5V pads.
- Secure the antenna cable to the frame so crash forces are not transferred directly to the VTX connector.
- Check that your selected frequency and output power comply with local regulations.

Please note: 

This is a 5.8GHz analogue video transmitter. It is not directly compatible with DJI, Walksnail or HDZero goggles unless the goggles are fitted with a separate compatible analogue receiver. An FPV camera, antenna and receiver are not included unless specifically stated in the package contents.
