Using the airband the sound is crispy and a bit noisy, but it is because of the antenna, with a wide band antenna not all frequencies are clear. With a tuned airband antenna it is much better. Generally I prefer this radio, having a big battery and great features.

Keeping the price point nearly the same: 1) it went from 3 bands to 6 bands; 2) battery life almost doubled to now being nearly 2 days; 3) the feel of it is more solid/substantial; 4) USB charging is a big plus; 5) all else remains about the same.
