If you have used the Baofeng UV5R then this is pretty much a tri-band version of that with increased transmit power and USB charging. Some pints of note: 1. The radio itself does not support USB charging. They have added a small barrel jack socket to the battery and supply a custom USB cable that presumably has a boost converter and charger circuit built into it. So don't forget to carry the cable with you if you plan on USB charging. 2. It is not currently, as of February 2021, supported by Chirp for programming. Early indications are the normal Baofeng UV5R programming cable will work once there is software support for it. Because of the lack of Chirp support I have not tested it on air yet. This may be a valid reason to hold off buying this Baofeng model until Chirp is supported. It is a shame Baofeng does not consider Chirp programming when they create new models.
