These aluminium alloy rods, have a flux core, and will brass aluminium, copper, and steel (dissimilar metals) to self or each other. They are mostly useful for crack repairs in aluminium castings, to prevent the crack progressing (drill a tiny hole first just beyond end of crack),*and to stop gas or fluid leakage. Offer price was a no- brainer purchase. Already I used a rod to seal a crack from weeping oil. Must have surfaces scrupulously cleaned using denatured alcohol, brand cleaner, cellulose thinners or similar. Clean crack and surrounding area thoroughly. Be careful because rods melt at very close to the base alloy of casting in some cases. Don't be too fierce with gas torch. Butane is enough heat, but you can use propane mix,for MAPP gas. Acetylene is NOT required. Remember you are BRAZING, and not Welding !
